Crítica Bits publishes in-depth reviews, retro-tech retrospectives and cultural criticism. The challenge: a magazine with a ton of content and a strong personality that still flies.
WordPress, but custom
We chose WordPress for the editorial workflow (the team publishes daily), but ruled out templates: we built a custom theme with Tailwind CSS for the design and GSAP for the entrance micro-animations. No heavy page builders.
Content architecture
We organized everything into themed sections (video games, film, hardware, literature) with clean taxonomies, so a reader lands on one article and finds five more they care about. The home is an editorial front page, not a chronological list.
Images in modern formats and sizes served per device, inline critical CSS and aggressive caching. A slow magazine loses the reader before the first paragraph.
The result is a site with a huge density of content that nonetheless feels light and full of character, exactly the balance the client was after.
