Back2OldGames
The games that defined an era, brought back to life
An English-language platform dedicated to preserving classic video games (1984–2010) from twelve systems, from the Amiga and ZX Spectrum to the Dreamcast and Nintendo 64. It combines a catalog you can browse by platform and genre with a full social layer: members, groups, badges, challenges, forums and a news blog.
Real recording of the live site in action ▶
The project needed to bring together a large downloadable archive and a lively social community, all on one website and easy to manage.
We built the site on WordPress with a BuddyPress social layer, a catalog by platform and genre, WooCommerce, a news blog and a donations system to keep the project running.
What we built
A catalog across 12 platforms and more than 24 genres
A social community with members, groups, badges and ranks (BuddyPress)
A news blog and integrated donations system
The project in numbers
retro systems preserved, from Amiga to Dreamcast
years of gaming history covered (1984–2010)
gamification mechanics: badges, quests and rankings
Results, not promises
A retro portal with modern community mechanics: game pages with editorial reviews, a badge system, missions and rankings that turn downloading abandonware into a game of its own. Members come back for the new releases and stay for the forums.
“The site nails it: huge catalog, proper game pages with real reviews, and the gamification keeps our members hooked. It runs smooth as an emulator on a good day. Couldn't ask for more.”
What it is built with
Chosen out of need, not for hype. Built on WordPress + BuddyPress.

Clásicos Básicos
The living museum of classic gaming in Spanish
A living retro community built around the content: a shelf-by-shelf catalog of games and films, an integrated podcast and its own forum (Foro CLABA) where members come back every day.
“It's not just a website, it's the club we always wanted. The game shelves are amazing and the forum runs beautifully. The community feels it's theirs, and that's something you can't buy: you build it right.”
Broken UFO
An intelligence archive on the unexplained. Less smoke, more sources.
It went from idea to a go-to outlet: a visual identity no one else in the genre has, sub-second load times despite the cinematic animations, and a reader base that comes back every week through briefings, the newsletter and Telegram.
“We wanted something that didn't look like 'just another UFO website' and they delivered an intelligence unit. Every detail, from the scroll to the files, conveys exactly who we are. The result went well beyond the brief.”
Crítica Bits
We review down to the last byte
The magazine launched with an editorial identity you recognize on the first scroll: retro covers, bold typography and a category architecture that drives one read into the next.
“We write killer reviews and we needed a website to match. They nailed the tone: irreverent on the outside, flawless underneath. Publishing is a pleasure and readers stick around for three more articles.”
