Plain-Spanish guides for anyone moving to the United States

A blog and survival guide for Spanish speakers moving to the United States: immigration paperwork (Adjustment of Status, Green Card, N-400), healthcare, money, bureaucracy and culture shock, told from the real experience of a Spaniard in the Midwest. A custom WordPress theme with a "start here" page, essential guides, reading times and a weekly newsletter.

A personal blog with long, heavily read guides — Adjustment of Status step by step, the citizenship test, emergency-room bills — needed to stop looking like a chronological diary: someone arriving from Google with a form in hand has to find the guide, not the latest post.

We designed and built a custom WordPress theme organised by "survival areas" — Culture, Adaptation, Bureaucracy, Life, Money, Immigration, Places and Adjustment of Status — with a featured article, "start here", essential guides and most-commented on the home page, a reading time on every piece, email subscription and an in-house cookie notice. Hosting, SEO and updates are on us.

What happened to Mi Vida en USA after launch

A guide gets read when it is needed, not when it is published. Organising the site around the reader's problem — a form, a bill, a winter — is what turns a personal diary into a resource people come back to, and what keeps long guides bringing readers years after they were written.
